About this blog

The elevator pitch ...

(or perhaps more appropriately, the abseil pitch)

... a personal blog that chronicles one middle-aged stress-headed woman's (my) journey along the steep and chossy learning curve of rock climbing.

What this blog most definitely ISN'T ...

... an expert's how-to guide for anything.

What it possibly MIGHT be ...

... inspiration, amusement, forewarning, entertainment, alarm ... for all that might follow in my footsteps or even trundle alongside me, be it on a rock face or through life generally.

Learning curves are GOOD!!!

What the nice text book will tell you:

And now for some good old-fashioned reality:

And my all-time favourite:

A word or ten about time-scales

Learning to climb is better thought of as a process than an end in itself. This is because - in general for mere mortals such as myself, and relative to other learning processes - it's commonly slow, stressful, challenging and mighty fickle.

I embarked on the "learning to climb" process in earnest in around about January 2014. My tumultuous journey along the process itself has held some fascination for many a listening ear (at work morning teas and other social gatherings), to the extent that - about a year post-embarkation -  I was prompted to chronicle my experiences of it.

Hence this blog.

And hence the recapitulative nature of posts referring to pre-March 2015 events.
